Dan's love of swing dancing began in 1997. When he first discovered it he found that he enjoyed it so much that he wanted to fully embrace it. So, he decided to teach himself the art. In just one year he was not only performing, but also teaching others. He ended up dancing ever night of the week for three straight years!
When Dan wasn't dancing, he studied old films with Jitterbug dancing and ended up living in Harlem where he danced with many of the original "Swing Dancers." He is one of the founding members of the Lindy Hop Swing Society and for years DJ'ed at the Casa Loma Ballroom, one of St. Louis' premiere swing dancing venues.
Dan has taught the art of swing dancing to groups ranging from 2 to 200 people. His love of swing dance has led him to amass the largest collection of film archives of swing dancing footage in St. Louis. He has over 200 clips from the 1920s to the 1950s. His desire is to keep authentic Swing Dancing alive and to do it like they did in the '30s, '40s and '50s.
